BEAUX-ARTS PARK

Jacob Shell, 2000-2002

This fantasy park was influenced by the landscape architecture of Frederick Law Olmsted, and also by the urban designs of Daniel Burnham and the City Beautiful movement. The park superimposes the geometric regularity of one style upon the naturalistic curvilinearity of the other. Visual examples of these influences – the Olmsted and City Beautiful styles – are at the bottom of the page.
